People call out industries that are actually ‘scams’, and it is an eye opening

A while ago we wrote a message where Reddit users shared the industries they think they should no longer exist. In the comments, readers of the Buzz Feed community shared more “problematic” industries that they think are really scam. This is what they had to say – as well as the original comments that started a huge discussion:

1.“Companies that own single -family homes. Airbnb. Both have destroyed the housing market.”

2.“Bruining -salons. Nobody can have a UVB position/bed, except for medical professionals such as dermatologists.”

    —Lisaa31

3.“Telemarketers. All telemarketing calls that I get, either from bots or real people, call me with telephone numbers that are flushed from my contact list. I can’t refuse to answer a phone call from my daughter, but I am really pissed off if it is not my daughter, but a few swelling with my daughter’s telephone number.”

    —O/Galaxy_ranger_bob

4.“I block every YouTube channel that makes videos about their family. You sell your child’s face and life for profit, and you don’t deserve children. I hope that the trend of family vloggers will leave one day – they are toxic.”

    —Abailey11

5.“Food companies that pay scientists to make processed food more intentionally more addictive and then also pay other scientists to make ‘diet’ food to make people addicted and to offer a fake remedy for the disease and dependence they have created.”

“Then the same companies blame consumers when the ‘diet’ ultimately fails.”

6.“Fast fashion. Clothing that is made to be ultra -disable. They are places looking at trends and make trendy clothing that will fall so cheaply that will fall apart in a year, but that doesn’t matter to the consumer because they want to buy next year’s trends next year, anyway.”

    – Leffeman

“Fast fashion is terrible for the environment (fashion is good for 20-35% of the microplastic that ends up in the ocean), terrible for employees (93% are not a livable wage, child labor and bound labor not unusually paid, and many of the factories are unsafe).”

    —O/Fairygodmotherfckr

7.Ticket companies are bad than evil. All bots get the good seats, praise them in the thousands and the fans are unlucky. Something needs to be done and fast! “

    – Caffie

“Those ticket companies are disgusting, I recently bought tickets for a concert with a sound check party and a meet and greet with the band. The band has canceled the sound check party, and the ticketing company refused to do a partial repayment, so I had to cancel the whole Sounch, or just greet, greetececk, or just greetececk, or just greetececk, or greetececk, or just to be greetececk, or greetececk, or just the money. Cancel, just give my money back. “

    —Mutagenic

8.“Everything as a subscription. As a technical employee I understand why this is so popular, but God, I hate it.”

    —O/Ihazrice

I can no longer use Microsoft because it is a subscription, and my sister, who wants to go into graphic design, cannot use Adobe Photoshop because it is a subscription. It’s ridiculous. How should people even try to get into the career they want if they can’t afford the tools? She could save for a one -off payment, but she cannot afford the added costs every month.

    —Wtherainbow22

9.“The cruise ship industry. They are not good for the ocean life or the general environment. They float petri dishes.”

10.“Third -party students Loan ‘Consultants’. I used to work as a federal collector of student loans for a contractor from the Ministry of Education.

“What these legal gray A-hole do is to mislead people to pay for free paperwork on their behalf. Of course, they have the small disclosure of the small print, but they are extremely preaching and make me sick. In my opinion, the removal of them can be worthy of legislation, given that they interfere with federal debts.”

    —O/DR3DG3

11.“Covid resulted in such an alarming rise of MLMS and other ‘entrepreneur’/’Be your own boss’/’Girl Boss’ on social media that it is honestly staggering. Ironically, and not surprising, every person I knew in one of these during Covid went a different, more stable job, but only did this in the debts.”

    —O/POSXIII

12.“Pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). Look them up. They are in fact blood -defading between intermediaries who are between hospitals and health insurers. They are supposedly created to control the costs of prescription drugs and formularies, but they actually stimulate prices. One of the many terrible causes of the states.”

    —O/TC273

13.“Child modeling and everything that has to do with children who are published on social media.”

    —O/TFLOWR

19.“Gambling. It is a huge problem in Ireland and the UK; there are gambling shops everywhere. I am sure it is the same in other countries and destroys lives. I can’t go anywhere or watch a sport without pushing your throat.”

    —O/G3S-Ter

20.“Payment daily loans. It should be illegal to conquer someone in a debt cycle that he can’t get out of. If you can’t already afford to wait for a salary, then it must be inherent in a cyclical arrangement in which a loan is paid and then immediately return to cover the costs.

    —O/Ariaofthenight

21.“Health insurance. I need medication. Doctor says I need medication. An insurance employee without medical training is not so certain. Maybe they inspect it in the short term. It works for sure. So it is only six months approved. Then I have to fight every six months.

“Insurance is extremely profitable. And people die because a man needs a third home and a private jet.”

Micron shares rises when Q1 Revenue Forecast Tops Analyst -estimates

Micron Stock (MU) rose with 17% for the bell on Thursday after the chip maker predicted higher than expected income for the coming quarter.

Micron projected the turnover of the first quarter of $ 8.5 billion to $ 8.9 billion, above the anticipated analysts of $ 8.3 billion.

Managers attributed the increased guidelines to a more favorable price environment and the robust demand for Micron’s memory chips used in data centers to feed artificial intelligence.

“With the arrival of AI we are in the most exciting period I have seen for memory and storage in my career,” said CEO Sanjay Mehrotra during a phone call on Wednesday afternoon. Mehrotra said that the company enters the 2025 financial year with ‘the best competitive positioning in the history of Micron’.

Executives now expect that the market for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips used in AI data centers, in 2025 will increase to $ 25 billion, an increase of $ 5 billion this year and an increased demand for its HBM chips to bring several billions of dollars next year.

From 11:20:05 am est. Market open.

Analysts at Wedbush, JPMorgan, TD Cowen and Raymond James repeated their outper formation of the shares, encouraged by Micron’s comments about AI question and recovery in his more traditional markets. For example, they pointed to repairing the demand for micron memory chips from PC and smartphone manufacturers.

Matt Bryson van Wedbush said that the prospects of Micron ‘first quarter’ reflect our conviction that the overall memorial dynamics will probably improve considerably “after the start of next year.

Raymond James -analysts said: “HBM question remains strong and Micron appears firmly on schedule to achieve his goals.”

Micron is the first chip maker to report this profit season of quarterly results. The report gives a first glance at how the semiconductor sector goes in the midst of high expectations of Wall Street.

The company reported a turnover of $ 7.75 billion in its fiscal fourth quarter ending on August 29 – 93% higher than last year and exceeded the $ 7.66 billion expected by analysts, who recently mitigated their expectations. Adapted profit per share of $ 1.18 also exceeded both the top range of Micron’s guidance and the $ 1.11 prediction by Wall Street.

Micron’s memory chip activities have undergone a revival in the past year, because large technology companies pour billions in the semiconductor sector for hardware to power AI data centers.

Micron distinguishes itself by working together with, instead of competing against Superpower Nvidia (NVDA) in the industry. Micron delivers memory chips for Nvidia’s fierce requirements GPUs.

Hiker saves puppy from the abandoned coal well after a frigid weekly search in Pennsylvania

Pottsville, Pa. (AP) – A walker in Pennsylvania had followed his dog this week from a mountain path when he looked down at a deep coal pit and saw a tail moving near a stack of rocks.

Collin Leiby, an enthusiastic walker and wedding photographer, closed his eyes with the animal and knew that it was Freddy, a 6-month-old Golden Retriever whose disappearance had fueled a week-long search in Pottsville, a community in the historic coal country of East-East-Pennsylvania. Leiby had been alert for the missing dog and eventually found him on Sharp Mountain on Monday, about 10 feet (3 meters) away the coal well, too tired to find his way.

“A tear came in my eyes,” said Leiby, 33, who lives a few blocks of the dog’s house. “I started calling his name. He got up slowly and started walking towards us. ‘

Familiar news and daily pleasure, exactly in your inbox

Watch yourself-the Yodel is the source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories.

Freddy made it halfway the icy side wall while Leiby reached down and grabbed him. He gave him water, cut a free belt to him and walked Freddy off the mountain with his dog, a pit bull mix called Bass.

“He cried and jumped on me,” said Leiby. “He said,” Get me home. “

Pam and Joe Palko had taken everything away since Freddy was missing on 17 February. They went to social media. They chased tips. They organized a posse of volunteers to spread flyers in schools, churches and in the city in Pottsville. They even hired a company that uses search dogs to follow missing pets, and another that flew thermal drones overhead.

That helped to rule a few places. But there was still no sign of the 6-month old puppy when the week wore and the temperatures in the single digits fell in with snow-covered Schuylkill County.

“It was overly cold,” said Pam Palko, a financial planner and mother of three. “We knew we would never give up, but the more that time went on all week, our hope became smaller.”

They chased one of the many false alarms in a nearby animal shelter just before twilight on Monday when Joe Palko received a warning of their home security camera. A stranger was at the door with Freddy. Then their neighbor called. They ran home.

“He was just a bit hectic, hungry and confused,” said the neighbor, Dr. Carolyn Canizaro-Orlowsky, a retired veterinarian. “When they showed up, he started wiggling.”

The Palkos, whose children are 17, 20 and 22 were especially warm after losing a beloved 4-year-old dog to cancer last year. They had not only become Freddy for themselves, but to give their other Golden Retriever, 2-year-old Harper, a new companion.

Freddy, who had weighed around 45 pounds (20 kilograms), lost at least 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) of the test and is a bit worse for wear, but otherwise healthy. The Palkos are grateful for that, and for the community that took so much to reunite them.

“There is a large collective sigh of relief,” said Canizaro-Orlowsky. “It’s a nice lesson not to give up.”

AWith a new report, six out of 10 employers say that they have already dismissed some of the Gen Z employees that they have taken fresh from the university earlier this year.

Intelligent.com, a platform that focuses on helping young professionals to navigate the future of the work, interrogates nearly 1,000 American leaders. It turned out that the shortcomings of the 2024 class will influence future grads.

Doctors shared the top 5 early warning signals from a mini stroke, and the information that everyone should have

Often people can experience what is usually called a “mini stroke” or “warning stroke” before they experience another stroke. Clinically this is known as a transient ischemic attack or Tia.

Some experts have problems with this formulation, especially since a TIA is just as serious as a stroke and still needs to be treated. According to the American Heart Association, almost 1 in 5 people with a suspected passing ischemic attack will have a full stroke within 90 days.

“TIA symptoms are interrupted symptoms that generally last the last minutes as a result of an interruption of the blood supply to part of the brain,” said Dr. Larry Goldstein, the co-director of the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute.

Although the traditional definition of TIA symptoms says they solve within 24 hours, the majority of the Tias are short and last less than an hour, he said.

Below, experts share the early warning signals of a passing ischemic attack and what to do if you experience symptoms:

    Balance problems and weakness

Person with one hand on their heads, leaning against a wall, seems tense or stressed, in a home environment

Person with one hand on their heads, leaning against a wall, seems tense or stressed, in a home environment

One of the most common signs of a TIA is balance problems and weakness. Usually this can happen on one side of your body, Dr. Hardik Amin, a associate professor of neurology and director of medical stroke in the Yale New Haven Hospital.

    Loss of vision

Person who investigates a pil bottle with a thoughtful expression, with a scarf and a sweater, and emphasizes the focus on medication

Individuals can also experience ‘loss of vision in one or both eyes, or double visibility,’ said Goldstein.

This does not necessarily mean not seeing anything. Double Vision, also known as Diplopia, is when you see two images of a single object while looking at it.

    Face hanging or numbness

An older woman in a blue shirt gently touches her face with a contents expression, promoting skin care or self -care in a good context

Another symptom is the hanging of facial treatment or losing muscle control on one side of your face. You can experience numbness, and it can be difficult to smile or move parts of your mouth. This may look like Bell’s paresis, a condition that causes the same type of facial paralysis. Although a stroke will usually also lead to other symptoms, it is still important to be checked immediately, even if this is the only problem you encounter.

    Poor weakness

According to Goldstein, arm weakness is another possible warning signal from a TIA. Lifting objects and holding your arms can feel like difficult tasks, especially if you have had no trouble doing these things earlier. This symptom usually also occurs on one side of the body.

People can have trouble producing speech or finding the right words, Amin said. Words can be unclear whether to come together, to the surprise of the speaker and their loved ones.

A TIA is an emergency and everyone who experiences it must immediately get medical attention. The good news is that “the risk of a stroke can be dramatically reduced with targeted treatment,” explains Goldstein.

Doctors can perform brain and blood vessels scans, evaluate heart function and evaluate a screen on cardiovascular risk factors that increase the risk of a stroke, according to Amin.

“Treatment of conditions such as plaque in the arteries, heart carithmies, hypertension, diabetes and others can dramatically lower the risk of future stroke, which could lead to considerable disability or even death,” he noticed. This article originally appeared on Huffpost.

Even as an American there are things that I come across every day in the US that just surprise me. However, it is so strange. In Canada we simply use our bank card, choose our tip percentage on the machines and we pay there. None of that writing of your tip about the reception sun. “

Cancer sucks life from you, because it also sucks away every dime. I just can’t believe that after all wise financial decisions we have made consistently, we are about ruin. And I can’t work, so I feel that I am just a parasite about the means of my family. “

An agent suggested that I wanted a symmetrical jaw line to be more attractive for men, because I was in terrible pain, lived by my face, lived in a liquid det and strangled.

Singapore-Olympic gold medal winner and LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko moved within a shot from the leadership with a 5-under 67 Friday after two rounds of the HSBC Women World Championship.

New Zealander, born in South Korea, had a two-round total of 6-under 138 on the Tanjong-Baan at Sentosa Golf Club. First round leader A Lim Kim held the lead after 36 holes with a 69 Friday.

The steady Ko hit 11 of 14 fairways and 16 of 17 Greens in regulations in its bogey-free round. When she won the gold medal in Paris last year, 27-year-old Ko became the youngest player to enter the Hall of Fame of the LPGA.

“I don’t think I usually play really well on this golf course and I thought this year would be a good year to turn that around,” said Ko. “The scores have not really been that low in recent days. I just try to concentrate on me and hopefully just keep climbing the leaderboard.”

Ko said that the entrance of Olympic gold and Hall of Fame had changed her way of thinking.

“I absolutely have more fun, and in a way I have the feeling that I am in a position where I can go for things and try new things and clearly not what was good from last year,” said Ko.

“But I think it’s a bit of a different mentality. I still have goals, and while I am still playing, I want to play the best wave I can and as much as I can. There is no better feeling than being the person who hoists the trophy at the end of Sunday. ‘

Charley Hull from England (70) was bound in third place with Hyo Joo Kim (66), two shots of the lead.

Defending champion Hannah Green had a 69 Friday and was at Even-Par 144, level with Angel Yin, who won the LPGA Thailand event last week and shot 68.

The Singapore field contains nine of the top 10 players in the world ranking – and 13 of the Top 15 – Min only the best -ranking Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang.

The last event of the three-tournament of the LPGA Early Asian Swing will be played next week at Hainan Island, China.
