Because Americans are increasingly dependent on social security and other pension income to make ends meet, high medical costs can bring years of pension planning out of balance.

Papalia had a goal to retire in 2015 at the age of 65, so that he could receive social security benefits and saved sufficiently that money would not be a huge problem. In 2010, however, he withdrew to take care of his wife full -time and took a buy -out from his company that lasted until 2014.

Marie, a lifelong diabetes, had treated medical problems throughout her life, including loss of eyesight in her right eye, static hypertension and low blood sugar levels. She got a prosthetic eye after she had experienced retinal damage.

Marie’s medical care was expensive, and the couple also caused two dogs, both of which had expensive medical problems.

Marie needed around the clock, and Papalia thought it was worth retirement to retire with her early to ensure that she would stay as healthy as possible. In 2012 she had a heart attack that forced them to pause their plans to sell their home in New Jersey to move to an area in Pennsylvania with lower costs of living.

In 2014, Marie underwent an open heart surgery after doctors discovered a 95% of the main artery of her heart. Papalia said that year was when the finances became much tighter – he added that Marie took eight or nine recipes every day. She has trouble walking in recent years and has familiar with a wheelchair.

“I am sure that if I look at my wallet at the end of the day, it is a difference between day and night,” said Papalia, comparing his financial situation in 2010.

Papalia receives $ 2,132 per month from social security before taxes and insurance and $ 1,900 of his pension, while Marie receives $ 1,113 per month from social security. Papalia said that although they float, some months were particularly tight.

Medications can cost $ 60 to $ 70 every week, and hospital accounts yield a few hundred dollars every few months, which means that more than 10% of their income goes to Marie’s medical costs. Papalia said his health was stable, although he has sour reflux, neuropathy and an irregular heartbeat, for which he uses some medicines.

They have shifted their groceries to Essentials in cheaper stores, and with food inflation in recent years they have been even more methodical about purchases. Papalia estimated that they spend less than $ 100 in groceries every week, although they occasionally order pick up. “We just take it a day at the same time,” Papalia said. “We are worried about today and let themselves take care of ourselves tomorrow.”

We would even venture to bet that Butker is a bit of a gear head, if not a complete enthusiast, based on the series he has seen.

What is interesting is that the man Bimmer seems to favor crossovers – apologizes to us, sports activities vehicles, such as BMW wants us to call them. People can have every opinion they want about crossovers that are not ‘pure’ enough, butker probably doesn’t care about your opinions because he has the time of his life.

The ultimate 3-day travel schedule in New Orleans for first visitors
New Orleans is a city that bubbles with every turn of excitement and history. With some of the most delicious food and drinks in the country, great music and very entertaining nightlife, it is a city that deserves to be at the top of every travel schedule!

Although 3 days may not sound that much, you can certainly get a good taste of the best of New Orleans with this travel schedule.

Make ends meet in New Orleans + where to stay

Many of the best things to do in New Orleans are within walking distance of each other. I strongly recommend staying in a hotel near Bourbon Street and to walk to as many destinations as possible in this post. We had stayed in the Royal Sonesta Inn while we were in New Orleans and were on top of all the action.

Pro -tip: if you are not planning to stay outside all night and want a decent night’s rest – request to stay in a room that is not opposed to Bourbon Street. We had to sleep with earplugs in because our room was directly on Bourbon Street and partying does not stop for at least 6 hours!

For the places that are too far to walk, you have a few different options ..

I personally used Uber as places too far to walk. Renting a car in New Orleans can be expensive by parking. It is much more cost -effective to refrain from the rental car and to walk as much as possible.

Another option is to take the public bus, you can view this site for a list of all available rules. This includes 4 tram lines – what a fun and unique way can be to explore the city!

The ultimate 3-day travel schedule in New Orleans

Day 1 – Arrival in New Orleans & Go Exploring + see a jazz show

We arrived in New Orleans on our first day of the afternoon. We were checked in at our hotel and then took a walk through Bourbon Street and then to the French neighborhood. There is a lot to see here! We walked and stopped at a few bars and restaurants to get an idea of the city.

This would also be a great day to go through a ‘behind the scenes’ tour Mardi Gras World. Tours leave every half hour between 9 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. and are only an hour long.

Once you have had the chance to do a little walk, eat and drink, you go to a live jazz show! We actually ended up in our hotel, because the Royal Sonesta Inn has a great jazz bar that is called ‘the Jazz Playhouse’. However, if you are not a fan of hanging out in a hotel – then I recommend viewing this list for some more cool places to see live jazz in Nola.

Day 2 – Food Tour + Haunted History Tour

The most important thing to do during your trip to New Orleans is to eat as much as your body can handle safely! The food in Nola is just great. From Po’boys to Gumbo and Jasmbalaya to Beignets – My mouth is just thinking water.

One of the best ways to get a taste of all the best food in New Orleans is To do a food tour.

I have taken personally This food tour And thought it was great!

If you really want to go completely, combine your food tour with a cocktail tour to also get a taste of the best alcoholic drinks of New Orleans!

The Food Tour only takes a few hours, so we used the rest of the day To shop in the French neighborhood And do a little exploring. There are many nice shops in this area. (Also take a drink for the walk! You can take alcohol to go to New Orleans!)

Another highlight of this trip was Take an ongoing Haunted History Tour (like this). This can best be done at night + you can take alcoholic drinks with you for your spooky walk through the city. (They even let you stop to fill your drinks halfway through, haha.)

Day 3 – Tarot – Card lecture + Garden District & Cemetery Tour

We woke up this morning to get a Tarot card read in Rev. Zombies Voodoo Shop – it was a nice experience! Whether you believe in things like this or not, I recommend trying it out while you are in New Orleans. I would fall into the category ‘not -believers’ when it comes to ghosts and lectures, but I have to say … our lecture here was creepy accurate!

One of the weird accurate things that our reader told us was that someone who was very close to us in our family was pregnant and had not yet announced it … Low and left behind the day after we got home from New Orleans, my sister -in -law told us she was just discovering that she was pregnant! (I told her we already knew – our Tarot Card reader had told us, haha.)

Remark: Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo Is the most popular place to get a lecture, but it was completely booked for the whole time we were here, so make sure you call and book in advance.

Then go to one of the famous cemeteries of New Orleans. St. Louis Cemetery no. 1 is the oldest cemetery in New Orleans and the last resting place of Marie Laveau “The Voodoo Queen”.

Another option is to combine Lafayette Cemetery no. 1 with a tour of the Garden District – an area that has evolved from plantations to landscaped gardens to streets in the suburbs.

End the night with dinner at Brennan’s (make sure you save space for their banana mosquitoes dessert) and then go to Lafitte’s Black Smith Bar for an evening full of drinks and pleasure – try a “hurricane” here! *Another nice option would be to end A dinner cruise Your last night in Nola!.

6 things you have to learn before the bitter end

I really hope that the age of 70 does not arrive with a museum full of regret.

Anyway, I would like to reach 70. But I know that many people now sow the seeds of resentment and missed opportunities. So what can we do to make things better before our hair turns gray?

The trick for supporting a long service life

Romania was confronted with a population crisis in the 1960s.

People had no babies and leaders feared that a population collapses. The notorious dictator, Ceausescu, made a new Draconian policy “Grade 770”.

The prohibited contraception and abortion. Schools then started evangelizing the importance of motherhood. Families started to put more pressure on women to have children. This led to a rapid increase in unwanted babies. Be flooded with children. Babies were abandoned on street corners.

Years later there was a rapid increase in crime. Many of those children grew up without stable houses, live on the street and in metro stations, which rock. They later resorted to theft, prostitution and were entangled in poverty. And in a bitter political irony it was this very demography that was responsible for the downfall of Ceausescu in 1989.

In addition to being talked about abortion, this moment in time speaks to the importance of people who live the life they want to live. For generations, our parents and grandparents were put under pressure to live within narrow boundaries and to fill the shoes that their own parents left. Happiness requires that you occasionally disappoint people. Do not leave from outside the path that you don’t really want.

If you don’t want to do something, say no. Do not get so entangled in the pleasure of people and meet expectations. You do you.

Last night I made the mistake of watching a documentary about a hospice care before bedtime.

That night I had a terrible nightmare over my deathbed – with cancer caused by the junk food and soft drinks that I surrender. For the record, my diet is not That Bad and the dream was probably exaggerating. But today I decided to make some adjustments. I’m just cold turkey with caffeine. I realized that it has become a big stool in my life. I go without it 24 hours and have not had any attacks or something, and I usually feel good.

I am 40 in September, and I know that it is now time to eliminate as many remaining bad habits as possible, because I prefer a healthier half of my life.

My neighbor was a retired pilot and his wife had been a stewardess. They came from an older generation who smoked tons of cigarettes – and she had not stopped on time. She had terrible COPD and other health problems related to smoking.

Consequently, she spent the last decade of her life, from 67 to 77 years old, hardly able to walk alone. She needed a lift to go up the stairs to their second floor. I felt bad for her. But it is a memory that when it comes to life, quality is as important as quantity.

You get two pairs of teeth

12 years ago I was shocked by the first root canal that I received – not from the procedure – but from the price tag.

I spent $ 1300 and thought I was completely scammed. The price has only become higher since then. As I wiped my credit card, I grinned and remembered what my dental hygienist told me years earlier: “You just have to floss the teeth you want to keep.”

I was not flossing – or went for my regular check. I had harvested what I had sown. Now take care of your teeth. A few slip-ups, even missing a day or two every now and then can come back to chase. There are many people who read this who have paid an arm and a leg to repair their smile because they relaxed at a younger age.

And if you have children for God’s sake, please teach them about dental health and build that habit now. Please. There is nothing attractive about black teeth and they may not have the money to pay implants.

Soft skills will make or break you

Many new employees have misconceptions about progress in the workplace.

Nowadays I am not an office life, but I often hear about it through my girlfriend. New employees, freshly spit from the university, misunderstood how promotions and increases work. This is the thing: there are many things that go beyond your core competencies that are going to be promoted. High -performing acorns, for example, are often frustrated that they are not landing increases and new job titles.

A large part of your work can be done with your colleagues. Be a good listener. Be empathetic. Recognize that everyone gets stressed and has to do projects.

Do not drive, desperate helpdesk requests from people who are busy. Career -Speed comes usual in old age. Do not sell yourself briefly by being a jerk.

That is politely not the same

A person can smile while putting her heart in a dog bag to wear home.

Make no mistake that someone is asking a question in a friendly way with those who do not manipulate you. Of course, I am very enthusiastic to help people who are nice and friendly – it certainly beats the alternative.

There, among you, good citizens, there are those who know how to use kindness as a weapon. They know that if they are smiling and bubbles, the other person will eagerly do something they want – no matter how serious the inconvenience is.

I always do as a judge taught me – a reasonableness test: “Is what they ask reasonable to expect someone in this situation?” Remember: even a serial killer can be charming.

The last

Ageism is still an unbridled problem in business – and does not seem to be slowing.

So don’t assume that you have a stable biweekly salary up to and including 70.

That is why it is so important to start saving for retirement early. You can easily get out of your salary in boxes. I already assume that at some point I will get outdated (while I work hard to prevent that).

I am a lot of worries about good friends who are now middle age and have not saved a cent for retirement. Remember the old saying that when it comes to saving for retirement, time is your friend.

Kaufman-Renn shot 11 for 15 from the field and 7 for 10 on free throws. Fletcher Loyer scored 11 points for the boiler makers (20-9, 12-6 Big ten).

Purdue shot 52% out of the field, while UCLA hit 48% in a match that went back and forth until the last 6 minutes.

Miranda Lambert jokes she will hide her ‘unattractive parts’ after Troll criticizes her outfit

Miranda Lambert takes negative comments in Stride.

The Country Star shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram on 28 February, including images of themselves and others who did yoga with goats. She carried a leggings to the outing and a commentator took care of their disapproval – so she answered.

Under Lambert’s post, the person wrote: “Yikes, leggings -type pants is not attractive for people with a little extra here and there. They don’t affect you.”

“You are too good to display the unattractive parts,” the commentator added. “I am not really a fan of leggings about someone, I have actually seen a lot more of someone’s things than I wanted. 🐪”

Lambert screenshotted the comment and shared them with her Instagram stories, while he wrote next to the critical note: “Good to know! I will do better to show my ‘unattractive parts’.

However, most other fans were much supportive in the commentary section. “I want to be as cool as you like you grow up,” wrote a user.

“You are beautiful! When I took that goat photo, I just kept clicking because you looked so happy and just enjoyed it,” another fan noticed. “Glad you liked it.”

“I love you because you are you,” said a third person.

Lambert is not afraid to respond to a negative remark. Earlier this month she shared a video of herself and read mean comments about her that became a member of Morgan Wallen as an opening act for his future I’m the Problem Tour.

“I appreciate that you are not afraid to keep back verse,” she wrote the clip, which she called, “Mean Tweets: Morgan Wallen Tour Edition.”

“HM, Team Miranda forever, but this is like a shock,” wrote one commentator, while the other chimde in it, “this is not, sister.”

“I am so disappointed in both of you, may God forgive you both,” said another fan. “We are doing really bad during this tour, Morgan,” Lambert joked.

“WTF, I don’t see Texas here,” said a fan, referring to the tour dates for Wallen’s 19 shows. Lambert, who comes from Texas, acknowledges that she ‘sucks’ that she will not perform on the Tour in her hometown.

Someone else wondered why Lambert had not won the entertainer of the year – even though she took the trophy home at the ACM awards in 2022 – and why she was not a headliner of the shows.

“I am so confused why you have not been an entertainer of the year in recent years,” they said. “I am further confused about why you would open for someone. You should be the headliner. What’s going on?”

The last comment Lambert reads was just a painful moan. “Thanks for the support,” she concluded the video.

The non -repellent rise in the stock market can become an “all -rally”, says the hedge fund manager Eric Jackson of EMJ Capital.

In an interview on Tuesday, Jackson told CNBC that the current environment of economic growth and interest rates reminded of the early days of the Bull Market 1982, one of the best performing progress of the stock market of all time.

In the first 10 months of the Bull market of 1982, the Nasdaq rose 107%, Jackson noted.

“The last time that the yield curve was reversed for so long and then finally broke to the advantage as we recently saw, in a benign economic environment where rates are falling, was August 1982,” Jackson said.

He added: “And when that happened, there was a rally of the stock market that lasted 10 months. Nasdaq rose by 107% during those 10 months. So I think we could have an all -rally.”

That would mean that everything from Small-Cap technology shares to the Mega-Cap-Tech shares would get higher together.

The combination of interest rates of the Federal Reserve, resilient economic growth and the on-inversion of the interest curve is generally a favorable environment for risk provisions, especially if inflation remains modest.

When a similar scenario took place in the summer of 1982, the S&P 500 launched a five -year bullmarkt that delivered a total return of 229% and an annual profit of 26.7%, the second highest annual profit ever, according to data from First Trust.

The non-inversion of the two-year-old and 10-year-old US Treasury Yield Curve is significant because it has been in a negative area for about 26 months, the longest in history.

The revenue curve finally went positive earlier this month.

The revenue curve that flashed between positive and negative and positive, is considered a reliable recession indicator, but with the economy still in good condition, this time seems to be different, as in 1982.

Seaman closed her usual Ducati Scrambler for a small Honda GB350 this time, the new small retro bicycle from the company. We don’t get the GB350 here in the United States, which is a real shame because it sounds like an explosion to go around. Honda, please give us the cool things you give to Japan.
