    CNN

Increasing your physical activity level can reduce your risk of developing neuropsychiatric diseases such as anxiety, depression and dementia, according to new preliminary research.

And the protection for your brain applies, regardless of how intense your exercise is, “the importance of regular movement in promoting mental health,” said capital author Dr. Jia-Yi Wu, a researcher at the Huashan Hospital at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

Researchers analyzed gear meter data of more than 73,000 adults with an average age of 56 years old to compare their amount of physical activity with cases of neuropsychiatric diseases, according to the abstract published Thursday. The summary is planned to be presented in April during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in San Diego.

Although the results still have to be published in a complete, peer-reviewed study, they are reinforced by the large sample size, the reliability of gear meter data and the large oeuvre that supports a strong connection between physical movement and improved results For circumstances that influence the brain, Dr. said Scott Russo, Leon Levy Director of the Brain and Body Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine on Mount Sinai in New York City. He was not involved in the investigation.

“In this case there are so much data, both correlatively and causally … that I am quite confident about it,” said Russo.

Even a little activity can help protect against some brain diseases, the research showed.

The data showed that increasing physical activity and the reduction of the sitting time was useful for conditions such as dementia and depression, and that is not a big surprise, Russo said.

Some studies have shown that exercise is just as effective against depression as medicines, he added.

To understand why exercise can be so useful, it is important to note that some researchers begin to consider depression as not just one condition, but a collection of subtypes with various causes, Russo said.

About 25% to 30% of people with a severe depressive disorder can fall under the immunometabolic subtype, which is characterized by inflammation and changed metabolic function, he said.

Exercise can help to regulate metabolic function and reduce the inflammation behind this subtype of depression.

“That can be an effective way to treat patients with this specific subtype,” Russo added.

The most important collection meal of this study? Move more and spend less time on.

“Taking daily activities that burn calories, such as walking or even gardening, play an important role in protecting your brain’s health,” said Wu in an e -mail.

In particular, it is motivating that the investigation demonstrated that all intensities of activity seemed to be favorable.

“You don’t have to commit to intense training sessions,” Wu added. “Even light-to-use activities can have a meaningful impact on your well-being.”

And just as a gear meter was useful in recording activities for the study, a device that helps you follow your activity can be a good strategy to get more moving, Russo said.

Doctors and researchers often encourage people to get more activity, and yet the health of the country as a whole has not improved much, he added.

“It still requires active and deliberate behavior, and some of these digital technologies that come true has been shown to really help with keeping track of and keeping up with motivation,” Russo said.

You can tell a device to follow activity if you get enough or how much more you need, he added. Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week and at least two days of muscle strengthening per week, according to the current guidelines for physical activity for Americans.

“It’s like a game for me now,” said Russo, talking about his own device. “I set it on my minimal move -white every day, and if I am slightly lower and I will not touch my target that day, I can do around my house.”

Being healthy because a population is going to take a number of strategy and deliberate choices, he said.

“I think this is one of the things that these digital technologies do is that the individual for the ability to really take the owner, to follow, collect and organize data in real time,” said Russo.

Another popular cat food is linked to bird flu which is more fearful in animal parents

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) sounds alarms for parents of pets after “at least two” cats have been associated with the bird flu in the state, and that is just the beginning.

The WSDA shared a press release from press release, which warns that his continuous research into food for pets and the spread of bird flu in and around the state has established that more cats are linked and it requires parents of pets to be vigilant. This is what you need to know.

According to the press release, the WSDA has established that “at least two domestic, indoor cats in the provinces of King and Snohomish in Washington are infected with very pathogenic Aviaire flu (HPAI)” which is also known as “bird flu” and “more cats that are tested”.

Related: veterinarian shares an informative perspective on raw food diets and why they are so taboo

Which cat food is included in the alert?

The notification, which was placed on the WSDA website on 26 February 2025, shares that the Cat Food Company Wild Raw Pet Food Cost Raw Food, was linked to the two inland, inner cats that were identified as infected with the bird flu in Washington.

According to the notification, the two identified cats tested positively on having bird flu through laboratory results on 24 February 2025. The WSDA was informed of the results on 25 February 2025. “One of the cats was euthanased because of the seriousness of the disease,” said the notification. “The second cat is treated by a veterinarian.”

The potentially contaminated wild coast raw -house animal food was linked earlier this month to serious disease in cats in Oregon.

According to the warning, the potential contamination that was linked to bird flu in cats is because all identified cats have eaten the same food, the Wild Coast LLC Bobe Range formula.

This includes lots #22660 and #22664 with a “best by date” of 12/2025, according to the WSDA Media Knowledge. The agency is encouraging that parents of pets check their cat food stock at home for these party numbers and best throw it away on dates and safely.

What are the symptoms of bird flu in cats?

According to the WSDA, there are common signs of bird flu infection in cats “lethargy, low appetite, fever, hypothermia, progression from disease to pneumonia, progression from disease to neurological abnormalities and infection of the upper respiratory tract.”

What should you do if your cat is sick?

If your cat shows drawing of potentially contracted bird flu, the WSDA notes that they “can be isolated to prevent the possible spread to other animals”, and you must report your worries to your cat’s vet.

“Inform the veterinary clinic before you arrive, so that the veterinary team can prepare to tackle the cat in a way that reduces the risk of transfer to veterinary staff, other customers and other animals,” Wsda warned.

Can people get the bird flu?

The agency says that bird flu has the potential to spread to people, but to date there is no indication that happened in these cases. “The currently circulating tension of [bird flu] is considered a low risk for the public, “however, they notice,” there is a greater risk for those who handle infected raw food products for pets or that ensure infected animals. “

Infection for people can be done by using contaminated food for pets or touching contaminated surfaces. “Caretakers must wear a well -fitting face mask and practice good hand hygiene when taking care of infected animals,” Suggers Wsda, adding that people exposed to animals with bird flu for ten days after the last exposure are followed by public health.

Symptoms of Vogelfu In humans, fatigue, headache, body pain, fever, nausea, cough, sore throat and eye can be redness or irritation. Parents of pets “who show these signs must contact their care providers.”

The WSDA notes that it will continue to follow the situation and does not currently recommend “to feed raw pets food or raw milk to animals.”

In round three of the targeted health of health 250 xfinity series Race on the Circuit of Americas, Carson Hoecevar becomes the first driver to get stuck in the tire barrier that dictates the first turn of the new Cota -Lay -Out.

Hecevar came in turn 6a and walked ahead of Jeb Burton’s number 27 when he was bent in the left and finished with his nose filled in the tires. Hoecevar could not communicate with his team and did not know the extent of the damage. Because this was a one-off race for Hoecevar in a team with a “tight budget”, Hoecevar decided that it was best to be dragged behind the wall, which returned his Xfinity series.

“Once we were in the tire barrier, it was ready,” Hoecevar told CW Sports. “I may have been able to continue, but I wanted to mistaken caution.”

Last fall, NASCAR announced that it shortened the course for the Xfinity Series and Cup Series Races in Cota from 3.4 to 2.4 miles, cuts 7 to 11 and created a hard cut of the new 6a to 6B that immediately touches the back for the old turn 12, which is the new bend 7.

Letters to Sport: Mick Cronin is not John Wooden, but he is still a great coach

Westwood, ca - December 3, 2024: UCLA Bruins head coach Mick Cronin shouts an attacking game.

UCLA coach Mick Cronin shouts during a match against Washington in Pauley Pavilion on December 3. (Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times)

Mick Cronin is the latest active coach who achieves 500 victories. In his short time as UCLA’s main basketball coach, he led the team to a last four and two sweet 16 performances.

This season’s team currently has 20 wins and is in the top five in the Competitive Big 10 Conference classification.

But that is not enough for Bill Plaschke, who thinks Cronin is too heavy for his players when he calls them in public. He is cool for them because (a) this is and has always been his style, and (b) it gets results. A little over 50 years ago a UCLA coach told his star calmly, two-time All-American Center, that if he would not cut his hair and shave his beard, the team would miss him that season. The news that this happens today would send Plaschke on a tirade, I am sure. But the player ran on the words of his coach, got the hairstyle and shaving, and the coach and player – John Wooden and Bill Walton – enjoyed a great season and, more importantly, a fantastic, lifelong relationship.

Mick Cronin is not John WOODEN. Nobody expects he will be. But he is a great coach, a proven winner, teacher and leader. Shouldn’t that be enough?

    Steve Kaye
    Oro Valley, Ariz.

I appreciate Bill Plaschke, but his recent Cronin piece has just been missed. Coach Cronin is not here to win a popularity competition – he is here to win basketball games and to build character. And guess? He does both. Of course, he is fiery. Of course, he is cool. But finally I checked that John Wooden’s pyramid did not include: “Let everyone feel warm and blurry.”

Cronin’s TrackRecord speaks for herself-he has built winners in Murray State, Cincinnati and, now, UCLA who uses the same ruthless, defense-first style. His players not only leave as better athletes and basketball players; They leave as a harder, more disciplined young men who are ready for life outside the field.

    Are they the shoes?

The advice of LeBron James to Luka Doncic to the effect of “don’t worry about matching us” and “you are you” should just go that far. The new green shoes from Luka (which he debuted against the Mavericks) are anathema for the purple and gold and may not be worn as long as Luka is in a Lakers uniform, which will hopefully be long enough for the Lakers to catch up with the Celtics for most NBA titles.

    Ken Feldman

Fans of Lakers who hoped that LeBron would retire James should reconsider their position. Luka Doncic brought the fountain of the youth. LeBron seems motivated to prove that although Luka might be the future, LeBron is currently still a top dog.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic are now playing together pretty well, and the Lakers will become a championship candidate. A while ago this kind of talk did not exist, but such a flowering will not come true, because the good old Bill Plaschke has predicted that it is time for the 18th title run of the Lakers.

    Fantastic thinking

Now that the Rams Matthew Stafford have signed, they have to add Cooper Kupp because last season was an aberration. As a fantasy football junkie I guess that he catches 80 or more in 2025. It is hoped that it is for the rams.

Just like the forbidden flying wedge from a century ago, the “Tush Push” is not a legitimate football game and must be forbidden. A compliment for DWYRE

My God! I did not expect to find a masterpiece on the rear ‘for’ sports page of the La Times of today. But that is what I found in Bill Dwyre’s beautifully written and investigated article about the destruction of the Tommy Hawkins house in the Palisades Fire.

Combining the life of Hawkins with the fiery tragedy of wife Layla is powerful above words – certainly mine. Letting us share these emotions is really journalism at its best. I can only imagine that Dwyre is writing, looks over his shoulder and Jim Murray sees him giving him a thumb up!

    Public Opinion, Private issue

Eric Sondheimer has nailed it when he pointed to the pleasures of old, public school basketball. I can’t say in strong enough terms how much I despise the final of the state and championships by private schools with their many unfair benefits. In a better world, public schools would only compete with other public schools for championships. Private schools would only compete with each other. It is clear that mine is a minority power. Micron shares rises when Q1 Revenue Forecast Tops Analyst -estimates

Micron Stock (MU) rose with 17% for the bell on Thursday after the chip maker predicted higher than expected income for the coming quarter.

Micron projected the turnover of the first quarter of $ 8.5 billion to $ 8.9 billion, above the anticipated analysts of $ 8.3 billion.

Managers attributed the increased guidelines to a more favorable price environment and the robust demand for Micron’s memory chips used in data centers to feed artificial intelligence.

“With the arrival of AI we are in the most exciting period I have seen for memory and storage in my career,” said CEO Sanjay Mehrotra during a phone call on Wednesday afternoon. Mehrotra said that the company enters the 2025 financial year with ‘the best competitive positioning in the history of Micron’.

Executives now expect that the market for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips used in AI data centers, in 2025 will increase to $ 25 billion, an increase of $ 5 billion this year and an increased demand for its HBM chips to bring several billions of dollars next year.

Analysts at Wedbush, JPMorgan, TD Cowen and Raymond James repeated their outper formation of the shares, encouraged by Micron’s comments about AI question and recovery in his more traditional markets. For example, they pointed to repairing the demand for micron memory chips from PC and smartphone manufacturers.

Matt Bryson van Wedbush said that the prospects of Micron ‘first quarter’ reflect our conviction that the overall memorial dynamics will probably improve considerably “after the start of next year.

Raymond James -analysts said: “HBM question remains strong and Micron appears firmly on schedule to achieve his goals.”

Micron is the first chip maker to report this profit season of quarterly results. The report gives a first glance at how the semiconductor sector goes in the midst of high expectations of Wall Street.

The company reported a turnover of $ 7.75 billion in its fiscal fourth quarter ending on August 29 – 93% higher than last year and exceeded the $ 7.66 billion expected by analysts, who recently mitigated their expectations. Adapted profit per share of $ 1.18 also exceeded both the top range of Micron’s guidance and the $ 1.11 prediction by Wall Street.

Micron’s memory chip activities have undergone a revival in the past year, because large technology companies pour billions in the semiconductor sector for hardware to power AI data centers.

Micron distinguishes itself by working together with, instead of competing against Superpower Nvidia (NVDA) in the industry. Micron delivers memory chips for Nvidia’s fierce requirements GPUs.

  • I will never forget the morning commuting

I will never forget the morning commuting

The bizarre and unfortunate incident started, like many, during a morning of living work traffic.

For context it is painfully common to see the roads slowly cross the roads here in Florida. We live in a glorified swamp, with a few cities in between. I had my part of close calls about beating bugs, with the worst one that was a turtle that went under my car. My intestine turned in a knot while I looked in my rearview mirror, only to see the turtle shell turning. Then the head went out and it ended his walk over the road.

It was a cheeky hot August, with humidity that was wrapped around you like a thick blanket the moment you stepped out.

I had just reached a popular intersection, with a red light that stared at you with an judgment while the unhuised walked between the lines of cars, hoping for reserve change or a friendly look.

Just when the light turned, something went over the black paved road. I squeezed and realized that it was an adolescent cat and dragged himself alone with his front legs. He shuffled the road just in time before the wave of oncoming cars flew by with little respect for his presence.

I have a strong affinity for animals, I grew up with a mum of pets, which I lovingly Dr. Dolittle call. I knew I had to do something. This would bother me all day if I didn’t.

I abruptly pulled my car to the 7-11 parking lot, with a car from behind to me. I found the cat hiding under a bench through the adjacent bus stop, which sat upright with only his hull. He was gray, with a lake of white that covered his bottom. I called him more.

“Hey friend, is it going?” I said.

Lake hissed to me and looked furious. Although this was a small cat, it was still a cat, with sharp claws and teeth to turn around, and it is survival adrenaline on Max. I entered the 7–11 and asked the employee if he had a reserve box that I could use. The long -haired man, with a strict attitude, seemed stunned and said, “May I know what this is for?”

“There is an injured cat under that bus bank. I want to take it to the vet on Bayshore, “I said.

The man looked reassured and I still wonder why he was so concerned about my questions for a cardboard box.

As I stepped out, I was already sweating in my dressed work outfit. The morning sun did not take prisoners. I texted my boss that I would be a few minutes late, and briefly explained the test. He knew that I was somewhat eccentric and had no problems with my delay.

When I approached the box, Lake remained surprisingly. I used a small stick to gently slide it inside. I still remember the subtle sound of his fur that pushed the brown cardboard. He did not a fight when I closed the box and hit a few holes in the top for him to breathe.

I rode two blocks to the vet I used for my own pets, including a cat that I had saved in a less serious situation.

A bizarre scene greeted me in the vet’s office, with an unusually long line of people in front of me. A obese Golden Retriever stood with one woman. A towering man with a gigantic yellow -listed Amazon (parrot) on his shoulder stood behind her. The parrot missed feathers on some parts of his body.

For me, a beautiful middle -aged woman who tapped a small toy poodle in her arm with her foot with her foot impatiently tapped. It was clear that we all had a story.

A customer at the front bickered with an employee about his account. I wiped the sweat from my forehead and felt relieved to be in air conditioning again. The scent of many dogs and cats were swocked in with every breath I took.

The middle -aged woman for me turned around, glanced at me with the box in my arms and grinned: “What’s in the box?” I was immediately reminded of the same notorious line from the film SE7ENWho also had a box, with a much worse item in it.

“An injured cat,” I said with a light grimace.

    “I’m so sorry. What happened?”

“Well, I’m not sure. I found the cat on the street. I think a car hit him, but I’m not sure.

The sad face of the lady melts in a huge radiant smile: “That is so sweet of you to help that cat out.”

My husband later found this part of the story funny and accused me of trying to pursue all local animal ladies.

Lake shuffled a little and hissed in my box. I peaked in and realized that he only adjusted himself to be more comfortable.

In the end it was my turn to talk to the veterinarian. After he explained my situation, the clerk gave me an exemption with this even keel -sided face and asked me to fill it in, with the help of the most monotonous voice I have ever heard. I immediately thought: “This situation is not at all surprising for her, or she hates her work completely.”

Reading the small print, something gave me a break. The exemption said, “You are responsible for all vets.”

My intention was to simply drop out more here because I didn’t know what else to do with him. I turned to her and said, “I think it’s good with paying costs for this, but I am not here with my own pet. Someone else can even possess him. Can you at least consult me before you charge a reimbursement?”

The secretary waved the question and said: ‘That is just paperwork. We will not charge you for this. “

I felt uncomfortable because it was still liable for me through the paperwork. But I realized that this cat was in poor condition, and I should just add it. They said they would give him an X -ray scan and come back and let me know how it went.

Then I started to wonder if I had room for another pet in my life, although I had sworn to add family members. I forbade that thought from my mind for the time being because it felt premature.

Thirty minutes later a young male vet arose and his face told me what I had already feared. He frowned and said: ‘Unfortunately our tests revealed that his back was broken and that he was very, very sick. We had to eutanize him. I’m so sorry. But thank you for bringing it in. “

I nodded as recognition, not at all not surprised. The cat looked quite rough.

I left that day, shaken a little. The experience was somewhat traumatic for me and saw an animal in such an emergency.

Part of me was still satisfied with this result. I knew that if I had not brought this cat, days or weeks would have suffered in the wild or would be eaten by a predator. A selfish part of me was grateful that it had not been my cat because I was absolutely destroyed. But I was still sad.

This memory still comes back regularly to me. And to this day, 15 years later, when I see an object moving on the road, even if it is just a small paper bag, I immediately float my foot over the brakes and I get afraid that it might be someone’s pet.

It is quite possible that the person who hit this cat had no idea that it happened. I hope that is the case, because otherwise they left without doing the right thing.

The incident reminds me of respecting life as I see it, and help where I can when I see the suffering in progress. Animals may not have the refinement and the feeling of morality that we do, but that does not mean that they have no value and that they have to be ignored on the side of the road.

I wish I could have ended this story like doing so many YouTube videos, where I cleaned this sick and confused cat and rehabilitated in a happy pet on my couch. I didn’t save him that day. But I’m glad I tried.

Please be aware while you drive. So often, people forget that they control gigantic machines that are capable of a huge destruction. If you see an animal in need, don’t be afraid to do something. You would be surprised how many people just ignore life.

    Rest in peace, more.
